CertainTeed ShingleMaster: What RCC’s Certification Means for Houston Homeowners
RCC earned CertainTeed ShingleMaster certification by meeting installation training requirements, insurance minimums, and quality standards set by CertainTeed — and by maintaining those requirements on an ongoing basis. Here’s what that credential delivers.
The Warranty Difference
CertainTeed’s Sure Start warranty — covering materials and labor for the first several years of the roof’s life — is available only through credentialed installers like ShingleMaster. A non-credentialed installer putting down CertainTeed Landmark shingles gives you materials warranty only. Installation defects that cause problems are your cost to fix. Under a ShingleMaster installation, both materials and workmanship are covered under the Sure Start terms.
The Products
RCC installs CertainTeed Landmark and Landmark IR (impact-resistant) as primary shingle products. Landmark IR carries Class 4 UL 2218 impact rating — qualifying for Texas insurance discounts. StreakFighter algae resistance technology is available in select Landmark products, relevant in Houston’s humid climate for preventing the dark streaking that develops on north-facing slopes.
Why Credentials Matter in Houston
After a storm event, your contractor’s credentials determine the warranty tier on your replacement system. A non-credentialed installer, regardless of shingle brand, gives you materials warranty only. RCC’s ShingleMaster certification, combined with our Owens Corning Preferred and TAMKO Pro Platinum credentials, means warranty coverage backed by the manufacturers — not just by a contractor who may or may not still be operating when you need service.
