Storm Damage Roof Repair in Houston: How the Process Works
Houston Storm Damage Roof Repair Guide – Roof Concepts Construction
Storm damage roof repair is one of the most common services we provide in the Houston area — and one of the most commonly mishandled by homeowners working through the insurance process for the first time. Here’s what actually happens from inspection through repair completion.
Step 1: The Inspection
A legitimate storm damage inspection documents every slope of the roof individually — not just the obvious damage points. For insurance purposes, the inspection needs to establish that damage meets the 4-D standard: it’s Distinct (identifiable as impact damage), Demonstrable (visible and photographable), Detrimental (affects the functional life of the roof system), and Direct (caused by the reported storm event). That’s what the RCC Forensic Damage Assessment produces — a 14-section report with weather data corroboration from NOAA and EWI, full-resolution photo documentation, and a scope of work tied to the documented loss.
Step 2: The Claim
You file the claim with your carrier. You upload the documentation. The adjuster schedules an inspection. RCC does not attend adjuster meetings or negotiate on your behalf — the claim belongs to you. What we provide is the documentation that makes your case. If the adjuster’s estimate differs significantly from our scope, supplements for legitimate items (code upgrades, drip edge, detach-and-reset of gutters, concealed decking damage) are handled through the supplement process.
Step 3: The Repair or Replacement
Once the claim is settled and the ACV (actual cash value) check is released, work is scheduled. RCC hand-nails every installation — no pneumatic guns — with EPDM rubber-gasketed flashings secured with screws rather than nails. We detach and reset gutters on every full replacement. Decking damage discovered during tear-off is supplemented directly — we document the damaged sheets, replace them, and submit the supplement before closing out the claim.
Every RCC job includes $30,000 deposit protection through Directorii at no cost. Your deposit is protected before the first nail goes in. Schedule your inspection here.
