The RCC Installation Process: What Happens on Your Build Day

Most homeowners don’t know what a professional roof installation actually involves. They know the result — a new roof — but not the sequence of decisions, details, and quality checks that determine whether that roof performs for 20 years or fails in 10. Here’s what RCC does on every job.

Before Tear-Off Starts

Every RCC job starts with property protection. We set up a debris collection system at the eaves to capture old shingles and fasteners — protecting your landscaping, siding, and HVAC equipment. We photograph the pre-existing condition of your property before any work begins.

Tear-Off and Decking Inspection

We do a complete tear-off on every job — we don’t install over existing layers. Once the old material is off, we inspect every section of decking. Soft spots, delaminated OSB, or moisture-damaged sections are documented, shown to you, and replaced before any new material goes down. Decking supplements are handled through your insurance carrier if applicable.

Drip Edge, Ice and Water Shield, Underlayment

RCC installs 2×4 drip edge on every job — the only profile that covers the full 2 inches of decking required by code once fascia is in place. Ice and water shield goes at all eaves, valleys, and penetrations. Synthetic underlayment covers the full field before any shingles are installed.

Why Hand-Nailing & EPDM Flashings Matter | Roof Concepts Construction

Every RCC roof is hand-nailed — no pneumatic nail guns. Nail placement is controlled and consistent on every shingle. EPDM rubber-gasketed flashings at all penetrations and transitions are secured with screws and washers rather than nails, which prevents the loosening that occurs over years of thermal cycling.

Gutters

We detach and reset your gutters on every full replacement. This allows us to properly install the new drip edge, place the apron flashing correctly, and reset the gutters fastened to the fascia board — not through the drip edge. That’s the installation detail that prevents fascia rot.

Cleanup and Documentation

We run a magnetic sweep of the property for fasteners. Final photos document the completed installation. Your job file includes before and after documentation that’s yours to keep. Every RCC job includes $30,000 deposit protection through Directorii at no additional cost. Schedule your inspection here.
