What Build Day Looks Like on an RCC Roof Replacement

Most homeowners have never seen a professional roof replacement from start to finish. Here’s exactly what happens on build day — the sequence, the crew roles, and the details that determine whether the job is done right.

Morning Site Prep & Property Protection by Roof Concepts Construction

The crew arrives with material that was delivered prior to build day — typically staged in your driveway the afternoon before. First task is property protection: tarps at the base of the home to capture debris, protection over landscaping at the eaves, protection for the AC condenser unit. We photograph your property’s pre-existing condition before the first shingle is removed.

Tear-Off

Complete tear-off on every job. Old shingles and underlayment are stripped and sent down into the debris catch system at the eaves. Once the roof is stripped, every section of decking is walked and inspected. Soft spots — OSB that’s delaminated or moisture-damaged — are marked, photographed, and replaced before anything else goes on. This is where concealed conditions surface. You’re informed of any decking that needs replacement before we proceed.

Base System Installation

New 2×4 drip edge at all eaves and rakes. Ice and water shield at all eaves, valleys, and penetrations. Synthetic underlayment across the full field. These layers are installed before any shingle goes on — they’re the system that’s actually waterproofing your home at every vulnerable point.

Shingle Installation

Hand-nailed, every course, every shingle. Starter course at eaves and rakes. Field installation working up each slope. EPDM rubber-gasketed flashings at every penetration — pipe boots replaced, step flashing installed or re-set, ridge vent cleared and confirmed functional. Ridge and hip cap installed per manufacturer spec.

Gutter Reset and Cleanup

Gutters detached, new drip edge installed, apron flashing set, gutters reset fastened to the fascia board. Magnetic sweep of the full property for fasteners. Final photos of the completed installation. Your $30,000 Directorii deposit protection is confirmed active. Schedule your inspection here.
