Houston Roof Replacement: What the Work Looks Like When Done Right

Step-by-Step Houston Roof Replacement by Roof Concepts Construction

A roof replacement is one of the largest home improvement investments a Houston homeowner makes. Here’s exactly what RCC does on every replacement job — and why each step matters for long-term performance.

Property Protection Setup

Before the first shingle is removed, we protect your property. Landscaping, siding, windows, and HVAC equipment are all at risk during tear-off. We set up debris collection at the eaves and document your property’s pre-existing condition with photos before any work begins.

Complete Tear-Off

RCC does not install over existing layers. A complete tear-off gives us access to the decking — which needs to be inspected and sound before new material goes down. Decking issues discovered during tear-off are documented, shown to you, and addressed before installation begins. Soft or damaged sections are replaced by the sheet.

Deck Preparation

New 2×4 drip edge at all eaves and rakes. Ice and water shield at all eaves, valleys, and penetrations. Synthetic underlayment over the full field. This layered system is the foundation that the shingle installation sits on — it’s not visible once the job is done, but it determines whether the system is waterproof at the points where water concentrates.

Installation

Hand-nailed shingles, every course. EPDM rubber-gasketed flashings at all penetrations and transitions, secured with screws and washers. Ridge and hip cap nailed per manufacturer specification with adequate fastener length. Pipe boots replaced on every full replacement.

Gutter Reset

We detach and reset your gutters as part of every replacement. New drip edge is installed first. Gutters are reset fastened to the fascia board — not through the drip edge. This is the step that prevents the fascia rot that develops behind gutters in the standard Houston installation.

Cleanup and Documentation

Magnetic sweep of the full property. Final photo documentation of the completed system. Your job file with before-and-after documentation. $30,000 Directorii deposit protection included on every job. Schedule your inspection here.
