What to Expect on Build Day — The RCC Homeowner Guide
Transparency Before, During, and After Your Roof Replacement
At Roof Concepts Construction, we believe you should know exactly what’s happening with your home at every stage. This guide walks you through the entire roof replacement process — from the moment you choose RCC to the day your warranty is registered.
No surprises. No guesswork. Just a clear, documented process from start to finish.
Before Build Day — The Pre-Game Playbook
Precision Planning
Every detail is confirmed before we touch your roof: project specifics, permits, HOA requirements, and material selections are all locked in.
Weather Scheduling
We’re watching the forecast. Your build day is scheduled for optimal weather conditions to ensure efficient installation and proper adhesion.
Gutter Detach
We carefully remove and safeguard your gutters 1-2 days before installation. This protects them from damage during tear-off and ensures clean drip edge installation underneath.
RCC Defender Deployment
The day before installation, our RCC Defender perimeter protection system goes up — heavy-duty netting shielding your landscaping, siding, windows, and AC units from debris.
Material Delivery
All materials arrive the day before or morning of installation. Premium shingles, underlayment, flashing, ridge vent, drip edge — everything staged and ready.
Installation Day — What Happens on Your Roof
Crew Arrival
Our crew arrives early. Your dedicated project manager is on-site to oversee every phase of the installation and serve as your single point of contact throughout the day.
Tear-Off
The old roofing system is completely removed — shingles, underlayment, and any compromised materials. We don’t layer over old problems.
Deck Inspection
Once the old roof is off, we inspect the decking for soft spots, water damage, and rot. Any compromised decking is replaced before the new system goes on. You’ll be informed of any additional findings.
System Installation
The new roof system is built to the RCC Standard: hand-nailed shingles, EPDM screw flashings, code-compliant drip edge, calculated ventilation, DryerJack vents, and proper bathroom exhaust termination.
Cleanup
Magnetic nail sweeps cover your entire yard. Debris is loaded and hauled. The RCC Defender comes down. Your property is left clean.
After Installation — Post-Build Review
Walkthrough
Your project manager walks you through the completed installation, showing you key details: flashing work, ventilation, drip edge, and the overall system.
Documentation
You receive complete project documentation including before and after photos, material specifications, and installation details.
Warranty Registration
We handle your manufacturer warranty registration. As a certified contractor (TAMKO Pro Platinum, CertainTeed Shingle Master, Owens Corning), we can register extended warranties on your behalf.
Gutter Reset
Your gutters are reinstalled with new hangers and proper alignment, ensuring they work correctly with your new drip edge.
Ongoing Support
Your relationship with RCC doesn’t end on build day. We recommend annual maintenance inspections to protect your investment. Our team is available for questions, concerns, or future service needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential roof replacements are completed in a single day. Complex projects involving steep slopes, tile systems, or extensive deck repair may take 2-3 days. Your project manager will confirm the timeline before build day.
Do I need to be home on build day?
You don’t need to be home during the installation, but we recommend being available by phone. Your project manager will keep you updated throughout the day with photos and progress reports.
What should I do to prepare?
Move vehicles out of the driveway and away from the house. Remove any fragile items from attic spaces. Secure pets indoors or offsite. We handle everything else — including the RCC Defender perimeter protection.
What happens if you find damage to the decking?
If our crew discovers compromised decking during tear-off, your project manager will contact you immediately with photos, explain the issue, and discuss options before proceeding. You approve any additional work before it happens.
What warranty do I get?
As a certified contractor for TAMKO, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning, we register extended manufacturer warranties on your behalf. The specific warranty depends on the product selected. We’ll explain your warranty options during the consultation.
